What is the Bowen Technique?
Rather than focusing on a single complaint, Bowtech addresses the entire body, by restoring balance via the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS controls over 80% of bodily functions and is very susceptible to external stressors. The Bowtech practitioner delivers signals to the ANS at specific locations (on muscles, tendons, ligaments or nerves), and the body does the rest, responding in its own time, as it is able.
The technique consists of a series of precise and gentle moves on skin, or over light clothing should the client prefer, interspersed with frequent pauses that allow the body time to respond. Many people are surprised, and even a little put out, that there is such a light pressure involved, especially those used to the heavier touch of deep tissue massage or other techniques.
A Bowtech treatment may last from twenty minutes to an hour. Most often, a surprisingly few sessions are needed to alleviate complaints, whether structural or functional, even if long-standing. And the results hold for a long time, generally until there is a re-injury.
With its gentle touch and minimal intervention, the technique is considered appropriate to use on anyone from newborns to the elderly, with any condition from sports injuries to chronic or organic complaints.
My training, work experience and any achievement
- Advanced Bowen Practitioner: BA (Hons), BSc, BTAA
- Advanced practitioner in the original Bowen Technique accredited by BOWTECH.
- Registered as a professional Bowen therapist with The Bowen Association U.K.
- Registered with the CNHC, the only organisation set up with government funding covering alternative therapies and there for the public’s assurance.
- Continous learning and attending relevant workshops, lectures and events.
- I enjoy to research and study, which I mainly do during the cold and grim months of the year. - All this extra learning and skill-honing helps patients not only when they come for treatment, but also in the information I am able to pass on that will help them to not only gain quicker results but also help to remain pain free.
